Dear friends and customers,

I think, I really like music on the computer. Such as FM sound and MIDI sound are good for my APPLE II life and like to think about new/better sound cards for my APPLE II.
In fact, I'm not good at the piano... my son plays better... but, still dream of playing the piano with my own song...
But I just I have some talent for making hardware but not good for playing musical instruments...  ;(
If Someone makes a good melody it would be always welcome to the world and then could play the melody on my APPLE II.

The SD MIDI II+ card was discontinued for so long time and need to make another batch for my friends and customers.

In this version of the SD MIDI ][+ would be just a little revised.

Before, I considered it a lot but, I'm not sure if someone would like my idea or just let it be a new trial for fun so just revise the version.

I received the prototype PCB and tested it. works as I expected.

Now, I'm thinking about which color would be good for this card...

Anyway, Please wait 2 more weeks then I could start to make the commercial cards.

VGM Player is a Music Player for SD Music/Deluxe card.

In the beginning, It only supported VGM music files but, now supports IMF and DRO  music files.

So, Now You can play OPL2 DOSBOX DRO V1.0 music file.

Enjoy it on your SD Music deluxe card and thanks again your purchasing it.

Dear friends and customers,

Please update your card firmware to V2.76B.

It has been internally patched as under.

But, If you don't use an LCD dial, you don't have differences.

What was updated

Patched on Making new Blank DISK image creating (Name selection was limited but now up to 99 disks)

Simplified internal routine for less firmware size. (It would help for further reserved function)

How to update

1) Copy the file on your SD memory card in Root location.

2) Please update by '*' on the Boot Menu.

3) After finished, Please check if the firmware version changed on the Boot menu.

4) Reboot your APPLE II and use it.

** Notice for firmware V2.76x **

From this version, the FDD reading method was changed and some of *.NIB files may read at a slow speed.

In this case, It needs to convert the DISK SKEW of the NIB image file.

To solve this slow speed issue, Simply copy the image to self by COPY ][ PLUS.

It will help to read at a good speed.

The VGMPlayer could play IMF Music files.

I'm working to support IMF music files on the VGMPlayer.

It's almost done and playing IMF songs now.

SD Music Deluxe card has an OPL3 sound chip and the IMF files are also possible to play on APPLE II.

Hence, I researched the IMF file type and could make it run on SD Music Deluxe.

I searched for some good file formats that could work on APPLE II without any heavy CPU load.

In my thought the Music playing in APPLE II wouldn't be a problem but, when I apply the VGM songs in APPLE II,

It won't fit for games on APPLE II. so other file types are needed.

I can make my own format but, it isn't a good idea cause I can't make good songs...

So need another format it could be made by some of the composers and if possible to convert to a specified music format, it would be a nice.

I considered it an easy one and I found DRO and IMF files. Some of the files are based on MIDI format and have instrument data in to and need more consideration for APPLE II.

DRO vs IMF...

DRO file can extract DOSBOX program and good for OPL2/OPL3 

IMF file can extract some DOS games and only for OPL2(OPL3 can)

And IMF file was simper to DRO and I did for it.

VGM Player would be a good player for VGM and IMF music files.

Background MUSIC(Sound) player on APPLE II

There are Mockingboard programs that can play in the background.

I also considering making a similar program that plays IMF sound files.

it would be helpful for the user's program.

Users could insert their own sound effects while background music playing.

In this version, It supports large IMF files and has no file size limitation.

And hidden reading applied so you can play IMF songs seamlessly.

Dear friends and customers,

Firmware for SD DISK][ Plus has been newly updated.

Now, Also working well on the Lemmings game program.

In this version, internal improvements have been made to better support the DISK COPY program.
Below marked OK DISK COPY programs work well.

The above programs are disk-related utilities that are mainly used.

You can easily make a NIB file created after copying it, to archive or distribute it on the Internet.

However, the negative symptom was found

Some NIB images read very slowly.

it comes due to different virtual DISK spinning.

In this case,

Use a DISK Copy Program(such as 'COPY ][ PLUS 5.1' ) and copy the DISK to self. 
In other words, Overwrite the Image by copy to DISK B --> DISK B 

How to update firmware!
Put the this SDBIOS.ROM file in the root of the SD memory,
Then proceed with the firmware update on boot menu.
